What is Tirzepatide?

Tirzepatide is a dual function GLP1/GIP receptor agonist, that is taken in the form of once-weekly subcutaneous injection. GLP1 and GIP are incretin hormones, which are hormones released naturally when eating. When the GLP1/GIP medication is bound, it mimics these hormones, and increases insulin while decreasing glucagon (the hormone responsible for eating) release which decreases blood sugar. These reactions lead to delayed gastric emptying, and the brain receives signals that the stomach is full.Due to this, tirzepatide is indicated as an adjunct with diet and exercise to control blood glucose in type 2 diabetics. Off-label, tirzepatide has also been seen to aid in weight loss.

Common Side Effects

Common side effects are largely gastrointestinal (GI) but tend to lessen over longer usage of the medication. These side effects include:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Abdominal Pain

Preston's Pharmacy adds Vitamin B6 to tirzepatide injections in order to negate these side effects. Vitamin B6 can help the body process certain amino acids, which helps reduce these GI symptoms.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type="in_container" full_screen_row_position="middle" column_margin="default" column_direction="default" column_direction_tablet="default" column_direction_phone="default" scene_position="center" text_color="dark" text_align="left" row_border_radius="none" row_border_radius_applies="bg" overlay_strength="0.3" gradient_direction="left_to_right" shape_divider_position="bottom" bg_image_animation="none"][vc_column column_padding="no-extra-padding" column_padding_tablet="inherit" column_padding_phone="inherit" column_padding_position="all" background_color_opacity="1" background_hover_color_opacity="1" column_shadow="none" column_border_radius="none" column_link_target="_self" gradient_direction="left_to_right" overlay_strength="0.3" width="1/1" tablet_width_inherit="default" tablet_text_alignment="default" phone_text_alignment="default" column_border_width="none" column_border_style="solid" bg_image_animation="none"][vc_column_text]

Benefits of Compounded Tirzepatide

Compounded tirzepatide allows for the drug to be customized to a patient’s specific needs. Compounding pharmacies create custom formulations to help each dieter lose more weight. For example, compounded tirzepatide can include vitamins or minerals for specific effects, like Vitamin B6 helping mitigate GI issues. Compounded medications can reduce the number of pills or other medications you take, and can optimize the results of those medications.
