Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Bioidentical hormones are artificial hormones that are biologically identical to hormones produced in the body. Bioidentical hormone replacement (b-HRT) is the replacement and supplementing of hormones that may have beneficial effects for both men and women as they age. This treatment is used to treat individuals who have low or unbalanced hormones.

When to begin BHRT

Hormone disorder symptoms often vary based on the severity and nature of the imbalanced hormones. It is common that symptoms vary based on time of the month, diet, stress level, and other factors. Therapy may be used to help maintain and restore optimal hormone levels in both males and females.

As hormone levels decline, signs and symptoms may appear, including:

  • weight gain

  • decreased energy

  • difficulty sleeping

  • loss of libido

  • low mood, depression, and/or anxiety
