INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSUFFLATOR
STEP 1: WASH HANDS
Wash your hands before use and wipe down the outside of the insufflator with an alcohol wipe.
STEP 2: SEPARATE THE PLASTIC TIP FROM THE BODY
STEP 3: UNCAP THE CAPSULE
Remove the top of the powder capsule and insert the portion of the capsule containing the powder in the body of the insufflator with the open end toward the bulb. This should be done in a way that the powder does not spill out into the bulb.
STEP 4: REPLACE THE TIP OF THE INSUFFLATOR
STEP 5: PLACE IN EAR
Hold the insufflator towards the ear with the tip facing the ear. Hold the bulb before placing it in the ear and release the hold to place the prescribed puffs of medication in the ear.
STEP 6: CLEAN UP
Clean the tip of the insufflator and store the insufflator in a sealed plastic bag. Then, place the bag inside a container with the bulb facing down. Store in room temperature away from light. Store the unused capsules in a sealed bag in the refrigerator.
HELPFUL TIPS
- Keep the powder insufflator in an upright position (with the tip downward) to avoid having the powder spill into the bulb.
- A clean drinking glass is a good storage container for the insufflator.
- Keep the insufflator in a cool, dry place to prevent caking of the powder.
- Additional capsules, when not in use, should be kept in the refrigerator. Once inside the insufflator, it does not require refrigeration.
