What are the uses of Hycodan?
Hycodan is a prescription-only medication that is used to treat symptoms of:
-Runny or stuffy nose
-Sneezing,
-Coughing,
-Sinus congestion caused by allergies or the common cold.
Depending on what your doctor has prescribed, Hycodan may be used alone or with other medications.
Dosage, Proper Storage, and More Information:
Dosage:
Hydrocodone is given by mouth, with or without food, in the form of a tablet or liquid solution. If your pet vomits after receiving this medication on an empty stomach, give the next dose with a meal or a favorite treat. Check with your doctor to see if another dosage should be given if vomiting occurs.
Note that this medication will take effect quickly (1-2 hrs), and improvements in clinical signs should follow. If you miss a dose, give it when you remember, but if it is close to the time for the next dose, skip the dose you missed and give it at the next scheduled time, and return to the regular dosing schedule. Note to never give your pet two doses at once or give extra doses.
Each Hycodan tablet or teaspoonful (5 mL) contains:
-Hydrocodone Bitartrate, USP 5 mg
-Homatropine Methylbromide, USP 1.5 mg
Storage:
Hydrocodone should be stored away from light and at room temperature. Store out of reach of children.
