What is Microneedling?

Ever wished you could turn back the clock on your skin? Microneedling can be the answer! Microneedling is a treatment that renews your skin by using small needles to make tiny holes in its surface. This process starts your body’s natural healing process, making more collagen and elastin. But products to use after microneedling are vital to making your experience the most comfortable and effective.

After Microneedling Skin Care

For the first three days after microneedling treatment, only use gentle and moisturizing products to help your skin heal naturally. Don’t use anything that could block your skin or cause irritation while it’s still recovering. Remember, let your skin heal on its own after the treatment.

Here are some important ingredients and products to look for and what they can do for your skin:

  • Hyaluronic Acid: After microneedling, your skin needs more moisture. Hyaluronic acid not only helps the skin to heal faster, but also makes it more hydrated and smooth.
  • Hydrating Sheet Mask: Opt for a sheet mask infused with hyaluronic acid to provide an extra boost of hydration. Leave it on for about 15-20 minutes to allow the skin to absorb the moisture.
  • Beta-Glucan Cream: Beta-glucan is known for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, making it ideal for after microneedling care.
  • Aloe Vera Gel: Aloe vera has cooling and soothing properties that can help alleviate any discomfort or irritation after microneedling. Apply a thin layer of pure aloe vera gel to the treated areas.
  • Calming Facial Mist: Choose a facial mist formulated with calming ingredients such as chamomile or cucumber extract to refresh and soothe the skin throughout the day.
  • Gentle Skin Cleanser: Only wash your face with a gentle, non-irritating cleanser that won’t disrupt the skin’s barrier function or cause further irritation. Look for a pH-balanced cleanser specifically designed for sensitive or post-procedure skin.

Products to Avoid After Microneedling

  • Sulfur Products: Sulfur can be drying and irritating to the skin, which may exacerbate post-microneedling sensitivity and inflammation.
  • Retinoids: Retinoids are potent ingredients that can increase skin sensitivity and irritation, so it’s best to avoid them during the initial healing phase after microneedling.
  • Exfoliating Products: Avoid using any harsh exfoliants or scrubs that could further aggravate the skin. It’s essential to allow the skin to heal naturally without interference from abrasive ingredients.
